Aideen O’Donnell, harpist and singer, studied in her native Ireland at the Sion Hill School with renowned Irish harpist Mairin Ni She (Ferriter) and received operatic voice training at the Royal Irish Academy of Music.  Upon coming to America, Aideen studied at the College of St. Elizabeth where she completed her B.A. in Music with concert harpist Leone Paulson, a Julliard graduate and student of Carlos Salzedo.

The Dublin born artist is a two-time winner of the O’Carolan International Harp and Voice Competition at Keadue, Ireland and a one time winner of the All Ireland Harp Competition at Granard, Ireland.  Other awards include first place in both Gaelic singing and Harp instrumental at the Annual Irish Festival of New York, USA.

Aideen has taught music at the Marylawn of the Oranges High School in New Jersey, and at the Montiverdi  Summer Music Camp in Norwich University, Vermont. She is listed in the Who’s Who of American Teachers and currently teaches privately harp and piano.

Aideen has performed with the Paulson Harp Ensemble in Ireland, Vermont, Cape Cod and the New York tri-state area. Her many solo appearances include Jury’s Irish Cabaret, Killiney Castle Cabaret in Dublin, and at events honoring Irish Prime Ministers John Bruton and Bertie Ahern in New York, and the Governor of New Jersey Jim Florio.  Especially dear to Aideen was her opening performance for Frank Patterson’s last concert at Regis College, Boston, MA.

Aideen’s performance entwines the familiar warmth, wealth and beauty of the traditional Irish folk harper along with the sophisticated elegance of a concert harpist.

“…exceptional talent…will one day be recognised internationally.”

                                                            Mairin Ni She

“…an artistic performer of great merit.”

Noel Dorr, Ambassador of Ireland to Belgium
